New owner for old Courier building

There’s a new owner for one of the oldest newspaper buildings around! Attorney Keith Denny confirmed reports this week that he has acquired the former Keowee Courier building at 50 Short Street, Walhalla. Denny does not have immediate plans for the building. In an interview, he explained that first priority will be to engage a building professional to evaluate the condition of the historic building, as a way to determine what repairs and improvements will have to be made. He admits a fascination and interest in the history of the building, which until recently housed the Courier. The County Seat’s weekly paper has since relocated its office to an address on N. College Street.
