New rules cover shoreline work

So many Lake Keowee homeowners turned out for an open house event last evening that Duke Energy opened a satellite parking lot to help handle the parking. Duke sponsored a four-hour event to acquaint the public with new shoreline management rules. Duke’s Brett Garrison said it was a chance to help spread the word about the new shoreline management rules that are part of the process toward re-licensing the Keowee-Toxaway hydro project. Representatives of the utility were stationed at tables to answer questions and show and hand out written materials. One of the interested lakefront property owners, Bill Graham of West Union, said he came to find out more about what’s involved as he goes about replacing his lakeside dock.
