New use for Walhalla Middle

New use has been decided for the 40-year old Walhalla Middle School—once that school closes this week in anticipation to moving next door to the current high school campus. Steve Hanvey, assistant superintendent for operations, admits that heating and air conditioning problems will impede the district from using other sections of the building next year. But the district’s alternative school is moving from Seneca to the Walhalla Middle building. Hanvey says other part of the building still in good working condition will be used for offices for Special Needs and Food Services. At some point, he expects the district to make the middle school gym available to the city’s recreation programs.
