New vaccine required for incoming 7th graders

March 14, 2013

Beginning with the next school year, 2013-14, all students entering the seventh grade must receive or have already received a dose of Tdap vaccine on or after their seventh birthday to protect them from pertussis (whooping cough.) Your child’s school will need a South Carolina Certificate of Immunization showing the student has received this newly-required Tdap vaccine. According to Oconee School District, don’t wait—avoid the rush—and make an appointment with your child’s health care provider.
