New water line crosses Chauga River bridge

A new City of Westminster water line now crosses the Cobb Bridge Road over the Chauga River.  As explained to 101.7/WGOG NEWS by city administrator Jeff Lord, this eight-inch line will allow his city to begin serving some of its rural customers in that area with Westminster water. Previously, in an arrangement with Walhalla, those customers received Walhalla water but paid Westminster.  Not everyone is enamored by the work.  The mother of one child said she’s worried that a child might try to stand on or walk across the pipe and accidentally fall.  But Lord said, “We have installed gates at both ends to prevent access.”
