New Westminster announcement

Westminster announced this afternoon that its proposed ordinance prohibiting farm-type animals within the city is now off the table and postponed indefinitely. This afternoon’s announcement by City Administrator David Smith says, “After conducting the first reading….some residents have expressed concern on how the proposed ordinance may impact them and the animals they currently own.” The city council wants more research, upon the realization that within the Westminster corporate limits there is a variety of settings—ranging from subdivisions to rural and that, as Smith put it, “any such ordinance should be workable in all settings.”
