NHL cancels all September pre-season games amid lockout

The NHL canceled all of its pre-season games scheduled for September on Wednesday, the fourth day of the lockout that began when the previous collective bargaining agreement with the players ended at midnight Saturday. A total of 60 pre-season games were canceled, the first casualties of the NHL’s fourth shutdown over labor issues since 1992. The regular season is scheduled to begin on October 11th.
