Night time burglary leads to arrest
A four-day investigation of a Walhalla home burglary led to the arrest yesterday of a 42-year old man. The police say Joey Lane Donald became the prime suspect on the very night that windows were broken and entry was made to a home on S. Spring Street. Curtis Rogers, assistant police chief, said North Carolina relatives of the former owner arrived at the house late at night last Sunday and spotted a van parked in the driveway. The North Carolinians knew the van had no business there and the next thing they saw was someone running from the grounds. Rogers said investigation showed the van belonged to Donald’s sister and was borrowed by the defendant on the night of the crime. The police say they are convinced Donald acted alone. He was jailed on the charge of burglary second degree.
