No intent to reach farther

In explaining why he voted to move the Confederate flag, the Oconee-Pickens senator says the action is confined to the flag that flew on the State House grounds.  Senator Thomas Alexander said the vote pertains to that the one location only, and he does not favor requiring anyone else.  Some flag supporters have expressed worry that the legislature’s vote is simply a forerunner to taking away Confederate flags.  A Confederate flag that flew on Walhalla’s W. Main Street median has been removed and replaced by a South Carolina flag.  Sources tell 96.3/WGOG NEWS the flag was removed by its owner voluntarily, though there was no requirement to take it down.
