No texting not enough for Oconee

Oconee County Council last night gave preliminary approval to a distracted driving ordinance that’ll have enough teeth to forbid the use of any cell phone or other portable electronic communication device while operating a moving vehicle. The only exceptions are emergency use and provided the driver is equipped with a hands-free device. Sheriff Mike Crenshaw said he believes it’s a law his officers will be able to enforce. Approval last night means the ordinance will become law after two more readings.
