Not all who spoke opposed closing

Those who want to see the school at Salem closed were in the minority during last week’s public comment session, conducted by the Oconee school trustees.  But there were two, and both are Seneca school principals.  They take the position that operating a small school deprives their schools and others in the district.  Speaking were Cliff Roberts of Seneca High School and Al Leroy of Seneca Middle School.  The recommendation to close Tamassee-Salem Middle/High School is back on the agenda for tonight’s 6 o’clock meeting of the trustees, and more comment from the public is expected to precede tonight’s consideration of the administrators’ recommendation.
