Not giiving up on Covidien

It’s one thing for a company to say it will move part of its business to Central America, it’s another to be able to pull it off. And pulling it off apparently is something in the way of Covidien from closing its plant near Seneca and moving the business to Costa Rica. At this morning’s meeting of the Oconee Economic Alliance directors, Richard Blackwell says Covidien’s delay in making the move means that the Seneca plant will remain open until at least September of next year. Blackwell, the county’s economic development director, says his office has not yet given up on the idea that a decision might be made to retain the plant that makes medical products. Covidien has entered talks to sell its entire company to another corporation, so Blackwell holds out hope.
