Not so fast on plans for wineries

The pursuit of Salem area developments that would eventually see wineries built near the Nimmons Bridge and Stamp Creek roads will be delayed at least one month while Oconee’s planning staff takes a closer look at everything involved.  The consensus last night of the county planning commissioners was to delay a vote on a zoning change needed by developer Russ Gardiner.  The Gardiner Group wants a zoning change to allow for what actually would be two wineries—one open to the public and the second, a private club.  But questions arose last night about sewer service.  Commissioner Bozo Richards raised concerns about the closeness of the project to Lake Keowee.
