NRC confab with Duke officials

Seated at opposite tables in a large conference room, officials have concluded their meeting today in a large Duke Energy building outside the security checkpoints at the Oconee Nuclear Station. This meeting was called by the NRC to talk about various projects designed to make the nuclear plant safer to operate and safer to those who live in its vicinity. Two of the main topics discussed today were Duke Energy’s efforts to enhance its fire protection system and to protect against the potential for an earthquake or from flooding.
