OC factory to make upgrade

A $5 million investment is being announced today to upgrade the Ulbrich Precision Flat Wire plant near Westminster. The Westminster Highway operation makes precision flat and fine wire products, along with a special ribbon in the manufacture of solar modules. And the Westminster plant also operates a focus factory dedicated to the research development of new products and processes. An announcement from the office of Governor Haley quotes Ulbrich financial manager Dan Day saying, “The state’s attractive tax incentive and ongoing commitment to business and manufacturing was a key factor in the decision to expand our wire operations in Westminster.” The expansion plan, expected to start in the spring of 2014, includes additional manufacturing square footage and precision rolling equipment to meet demand in key markets. Ulbrich employs 700 people globally and operates 10 facilities in five countries. It’s a fourth generation, family-owned business.
