OC projects part of federal aid bridge program

The surface on one side of an interstate bridge and the surfaces on both sides of a second bridge in Oconee County are being recommended for work. And the state DOT has opened a public comment period on the projects. Mike Smith, DOT resident maintenance engineer for Oconee County, says the bridges recommended for federal aid program money are the north and southbound lanes on the second set of bridges over Fair Play Creek, as well as the northbound lanes of the I-85 bridge leading from Georgia to South Carolina.   The bridge surfaces are to be programmed for work “as funding becomes available,” according to the DOT’s recent announcement.
