OC ranked high for job seekers

A report from a personal finance and consumer advocacy website names Oconee County one of South Carolina’s best places for job seekers. Nerd Wallet asked three fundamental questions when evaluating the state to gauge the top locations for job seekers: 1. Is the county growing? 2. Can you afford to live in the county comfortably? And 3. Are most people employed. Ranked in ninth place, Oconee saw a near 5% increase in the working-age population from 2009 to 2011. Households earned a median income of $42,641 with homeowners costs just over $1 thousand a month. In October, the county’s unemployment rate was 7.5%. Annie Wang, Nerd Wallet analyst, said, “Workers are attracted to Oconee County’s growing economy.”
