OCC to be briefed on “Project W”

Oconee County Council apparently had a lot to talk about last night—-behind closed doors. Before adjourning to closed session, County Administrator Scott Moulder outlined some of the matters to be discussed privately. They included an economic development matter referred to as “Project W.” Last week Richard Blackwell, the county’s economic development director, said of Project W: “This project is awaiting confirmation from corporate leadership to move forward with their plans.” Another matter for last night’s closed session was plans for developers to convert the former courthouse to a motel. In open session last night, the council gave final reading to a fee-in-place of tax agreement with the county’s newest industrial acquisition, the A-I-D plant in the Oconee Commerce Park. But the council tabled final reading of an ordinance to allow for an in-frastructure tax credit with another development project, Technology Solutions of SC, Inc. at 528-F Bypass 123, Seneca.
