OCC to go lakeside Monday

Oconee County councilmen will go lakeside during a tour next week of boat landings belonging to the Army Corps of Engineers. To save money, the federal agency seeks to close some of the landings in Oconee County. And the county council may have interest in the landings to be abandoned. “The purpose of this tour is to help develop a plan,” Archie Barron, chairman of the Oconee Real Estate, Facilities and Land Management Committee announced on Tuesday. The tour on Monday will constitute a public meeting, but reporters and members of the public will be required to provide their own transportation. Those planning to take the tour are asked to gather at 9 a-m at the county offices in Walhalla.
