Approval by Oconee County of ordinances to give a financial boost to a hotel project nearing completion in Seneca received unanimous support last night at the council table, but dissent from within the meeting audience. It prompted District One’s Paul Corbeil to issue an explanation. “There are no Oconee County general fund or economic development dollars being paid to the developers of this property,” Corbeil said referring to the project to build the Hampton Inn and Suites on Seneca’s E. N. 1st Street.” But that’s not how three people see it. The managers of two existing Seneca motels cried foul. And Britt Adams, a conservative citizen activist, was the first to speak about this during last night’s public comment part of the council meeting.
