Oconee beefs up its unemployment rolls

Between September and October, an additional 330 people were added to Oconee’s workforce.  The state reported today that the county’s jobless rate fell again in October—-to 5.3% from September’s 5.6%.  At 5.3%, Oconee remains in the lower one third of the state’s counties for the lowest unemployment rates.  Jasper, Greenville, and Charleston counties are the lowest at 4.7% while Orangeburg, at 10.7%, is the highest.  The South Carolina seasonally-adjusted jobless rate for October fell for the fifth straight month—to a statewide average of 5.6%.  The rate is the lowest since June 2007.  The country shows a jobless figure of 5%.
