Oconee County Council to organize for 2016

The new Oconee County Attorney, David Root, will preside temporarily at the start of County Council’s first meeting of the New Year.  Root’s job Tuesday will be to call the meeting to order and to hold the gavel until such time as the council completes its annual task of electing a chairman.  District Two’s Wayne McCall holds the office currently and is eligible to be re-elected.  The council will also select a vice chairman and a chairman pro-tem.  As part of its annual re-organization, the council intends to re-appoint the clerk to council.  The chairman has the duty to appoint committees and other council representatives.
