Oconee Democrat calls for a change
Oconee County Democrats last night gave a sendoff to a Seneca businessman who is trying to unseat a Republican in what’s considered a solid Republican congressional district. The chair of the county party, Paulette Keffas-Chassin, says the candidacy of Hosea Cleveland represents the only hope of her party for a local Democrat to win office in the election. She spoke during a two-hour event at party headquarters at which candidate Cleveland met and spoke to members of the public and the press. Keowee community Democrat Mike Evatt is a staunch Cleveland supporter. He’s hopeful that Cleveland, an African-American, succeeds November 8 in being the first member of his race to be elected to the U-S House of Representatives from the state’s 3rd congressional district.
