Oconee Democrats prepare to reorganize

Fewer than nine months remain before the 2014 general election. And today the Oconee Democratic Party is inviting county Democrats and like-minded Independents to attend their party’s biennial local precinct meetings. They’ll take place 9 a-m to noon Saturday, February 15 at Walhalla Depot—College and Mauldin streets. In a statement, Chairwoman Rosellen Aleguire said, “We believe the only way to restore integrity and accountability in state government and pride in South Carolina is to elect Democrats to State House and Senate in 2014.” During the meeting, participants will elect precinct officers for 2014-15. Every precinct elects a president, vice president and other officers—along with representatives to the county party’s executive committee. Delegates will also be chosen to attend the March 15 county convention.
