Oconee Drug Court celebrates its first graduate

A 52-year old man named “Ricky” overcame a relapse into drugs and has turned his world around for the better, and yesterday became the first graduate of the Oconee County Drug Program.  A celebration, presided over by Magistrate Will Derrick, was staged in the Seneca Magistrate’s Court.  Among others the event was attended by members of Ricky’s family, law enforcement, and members of the office of Circuit Solicitor Chrissy Adams, whose office initiated the drug courts as a way to help offenders kick their drug habits and clear their records.  Also, in the audience were other individuals enrolled in the drug program who are able to see the first graduate as a role model and someone whose success they can emulate.
