Oconee EMS wins Silver Award

A Lifeline EMS Silver Award is now in the possession of the professionals who makeup the Oconee Medical Center EMS. From the American Heart Association, this award recognizes the Oconee EMS commitment and success in implementing specific quality improvement measures for the treatment of patients, who suffer the severe heart attack known as a STEMI—ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction. Each year, nearly 300 thousand people experience a STEMI. The heart attack is caused by a complete blockage of blood flow to the heart that requires timely treatment. Agencies, such as Oconee EMS, that receive the Lifeline award demonstrate at least 75% compliance for each required achievement measure for the entire year, and treat at least eight STEMI patients for the year.
