Oconee is a top “micropolitan”

A magazine publication has once again ranked Oconee County a top-performing micropolitan. Oconee Economic Alliance defines micopolitan as a non-urban community anchored by a town of no more than 50,000 people. The magazine Site Selection’s list for 2014 ranks the Seneca Micropolitan 27th out of the 576 microplitan areas in the country as identified by the Census Bureau. According to the Economic Alliance, the magazine based its results on the number of economic development projects in the area during the 2013 year.
