Oconee ladies to compete for title

Twenty Oconee ladies compete this weekend for the title of the 2012 Miss Oktoberfest and the chance to wear the tiara during next month’s official celebration of Walhalla’s Germanic roots. The pageant, at 7 Saturday night at Walhalla High School, is open to all young ladies attending high school in Oconee. Contestants will compete in interview, casual wear, and formal wear. Bailee Brock, Miss Oktoberfest 2011, will relinquish her crown to the winner. Miss Oktoberfest will receive a $500 scholarship. Class attendants will be named. Holli Lowe will emcee. Serving as entertainers will be Lauren Cabaniss and Miss Darlington Clarka Wickliffe. Tickets are five dollars and will be sold at the door.
