Oconee students learn healthy eating habits

February 24, 2014

Elementary school students in Oconee County are learning about the importance of healthy eating. At the same time, they are honing culinary skills, with the help of the school district’s food service supplier, Sodexo. The Oconee district is one of more than 150 districts across the country holding Future Chef events this winter. The local event takes place Thursday, March 13 at Seneca’s Blue Ridge Elementary School. There, the 20 best sandwich recipes will be judged on originality, taste, presentation, kid friendliness, and use of healthy ingredients. Sodexo is a partner in First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative to end childhood obesity.
