Oconee to soar with “Project Eagle”?

After two and a half hours of a private meeting, the Oconee County Council is moving ahead on two of three unspecified economic development matters. The council emerged last night without acting on the first of three matters discussed. It did vote to direct its legal counsel to proceed with an agreement on a project code-named “Eagle.” Councilman Paul Corbeil followed that motion with one to proceed with an agreement on what he called the third economic development matter discussed in executive session. The motion passed with one dissenting vote. That of District Five’s Reg Dexter. But neither Dexter, nor Chairman Joel Thrift, would discuss the matters further with reporters after last night’s meeting.
