Oconeean arrested in Idaho returned to OC

October 2, 2013

A 44-year old woman sits in an Oconee County jail cell, facing alleged violations of child custody laws. The arrest this summer in Idaho of Laverne Marie Bennett made headline news when Bennett and her four young daughters were found by state police in that far west state. They were found at a picnic table at a rest area off an interstate highway. Placed in the Oconee Jail yesterday, Bennett is charged with transporting a child under 16 with the purpose of concealing the child or avoiding a custody order or statute.
