Oconeeans arrested in Georgia

Three Oconee County residents have been arrested in Georgia on charges that they allegedly dragged a machine weighing approximately 1500 pounds down the roadway from North Carolina into Georgia.On March 2nd, deputies with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office noticed drag marks on the pavement behind vehicle with a flat tire on Highway 28 just south of the North Carolina line. Sky 104 Radio in Clayton reports the investigation led to the discovery of a large metal press allegedly taken from the Prime View Gas and Grocery in Highlands down an embankment near the vehicle. Arrested were twenty six year old Kevin Kyle Craig of West Union, South Carolina, twenty eight year old James Bennett Jewell of Westminster, South Carolina, and twenty one year old Ariel Nicole Roach of Seneca, South Carolina, all on the charge of theft by receiving stolen property. Authorities say the case is still under investigation in both Rabun County and Macon County, North Carolina.
