Oconee’s jobless rate falls below 6%

Oconee County unemployment last month dropped to 5.8%—from February’s rate of 6.4%. According to the state’s counters, there was an addition of 365 people to the county’s employed labor force. The work picture statewide showed a slight increase in the jobless rate—from 6.6% percent to 6/7%. But the Department of Employment and Workforce reports the number of South Carolinians working in March increased more than 5,800 and made for the 64th straight month of employment growth in the state.
