Office building begun at ONS

A contractor has begun work on a multi-story office building within the grounds of the Oconee Nuclear Station. It’s a project that the county’s recently-issued builder’s permit values at $16.2 million. B-J Gatten at the World of Energy says though the building will rise five stories, it won’t be nearly as high as other buildings, including the reactors, for part of it will be built into the ground. Work by Langston Construction of Piedmont has started the excavation stages. “Part of this building will be built into the hillside,” she said. And Gatten added that, when finished, the building will be slightly visibility from the S.C. 183 side of the plant.
