Officeholder to bid for new term

Early next year Oconeeans who want to be involved in the 2016 election process will have decisions and deadlines to meet.   For those who want the nomination of the party of their choice, candidate qualifying will start in mid March.  County Clerk of Court Beverly Whitfield, a Republican, told 101.7/WGOG NEWS she will be a candidate next year for re-election.  Whitfield is at least the second incumbent with definite political plans in 2016.  Another is Sheriff Mike Crenshaw, who recently said he will run for a second term.
