Oktoberfest makes Walhalla donation

2015 was apparently a very good year for Oktoberfest in Walhalla.  In gratitude, the committee that runs the celebration of the city’s origins has donated $20 thousand for city purposes.  Nancy Goehle, city administrator, says the $20 thousand is an addition to $5 thousand that the committee earlier gave Walhalla.  The main venue for Oktoberfest is the city’s Sertoma Field, and festival organizers rely on the city for various tasks associated with the weekend.  Goehle says the $20 thousand is to be designated for city purposes.  Mayor Edwards would like to see some or all of the money divided into grants to allow Main Street building owners for façade work on their buildings now that Streetscape has entered its final stages.
