OMC E-R renovation starts tomorrow

Renovation starts tomorrow on the emergency department at Oconee Medical Center. But all the while the plan is to keep the E-R up and running. The emergency department is to receive new floors, wall coverings, cabinets, lighting, furniture and other improvements. “We see almost 40,000 patients per year in our Emergency Department, which creates a lot of wear and tear on the facility,” said Todd Walker, Senior Director of Operations. “This renovation will make the ED more comfortable and pleasant for our patients and their families.” Because the emergency department will continue to operate throughout the renovation, the project will take place in stages, with the first stage starting tomorrow. It will take several months to renovate the entire department, a few rooms at a time. According to the hospital, months of planning have taken place to minimize the impact on patients and to protect the safety of patients and visitors. Patients and visitors with questions or concerns should contact Patient Relations at 864/885-7302.
