OMC to receive largest foundation gift ever

Oconee Medical Center Foundation is reporting its largest private gift. An anonymous couple donated $707 thousand in appreciated securities to create an irrevocable Charitable Remainder Unitrust for the hospital. Jeanne Ward, OMC president/CEO, called the couple special and said they contacted the hospital a year ago to indicate they wanted to do something significant. They did so with the request that the funds be used to help offset the charity care delivered by the hospital on an annual basis or be used to fund the greatest need or needs at OMC at the time the gift is realized. Cortni Nations, Foundation Director, says the trust will provide income for the donors throughout their lifetime and, after the last survivor’s death, the trust will be dissolved and the principal will come to the hospital. For more information on how you can support Oconee Medical Center or Oconee Hospice of the Foothills through estate planning, contact Nations at her office at 864/885-7909.
