On the eve of the fair, an event hails agriculture

The annual farm-to-table event to celebrate Oconee County agriculture attracts the state’s lieutenant governor as one of its speakers. Glenn McConnell will be part of the dais this evening at the South Carolina Foothills Heritage Fair grounds on highway 123 between Seneca and Westminster. The event, featuring locally-grown food, begins at 5:30 and takes place on the eve of the start of the 2013 South Carolina Foothills Heritage Fair. Agriculture makes a significant impact on the Oconee County economy—$133 million a year from its approximate 800 farm operations.
