On the highways and bi-ways

The motor club AAA projects a record 614, 700 South Carolinians will travel 50 miles or more from home this Independence Day holiday.  Most will be driving to their destinations.  Rising income and a stronger job market are factors.  And, despite seasonal increases, gas prices remain below last year’s levels.  Remember safety this weekend. Last year at this time there were 10 traffic deaths in the PalmettoState.  According to the motor club, alcohol was involved in three of those fatalities.  State troopers will stage checkpoints and stepped up patrols.  The “Target Zero” campaign is directed at speeders, those who text while driving, and those who drink and drive.
