One appeal denied, a second granted

The Oconee Board of Zoning Appeals decided last night that a Mountain Rest man will have to conform to county building regulations covering a communications pole tower erected on his property off the Whetstone Road. A finding of fact prepared for the board showed Howard Hopkins put up the tower without a permit. The owners of Lake Keowee’s Lighthouse Restaurant received a special exception to allow the construction of a kitchen at its lakeshore cabana. According to Lighthouse’s Dick Cottingham, the current system of transporting cooked food from the Lighthouse kitchen has proved inadequate.
