One less billboard in Oconee

Once a commercial billboard goes up in Oconee County, it tends to stay up, no matter what. But a local businessman/contractor can attest that that isn’t always the case. Through an IRS sale, Danny Hutchinson recently acquired a vacant commercial building on highway 28 that had a billboard hover over it. Standard billboard contracts run 20 years. And, if the property is transferred, the contract applies to the new owner. But Hutchinson did not acquire the building from the previous owner. He got it from the federal government and pointed that out to the billboard company, which made arrangements to dismantle the billboard and remove it.
