One zoning appeal denied, another granted

In a unanimous vote, the Walhalla Board of Zoning Appeals decided it wants to maintain the neighborhood of W. Ervin Street near South College for stick-built homes. The board last night denied Richard Burton’s request for a variance that would have allowed him to place a manufactured home at 103 W. Ervin for the purpose of a home for himself. Earlier, the board said yes to an exception to allow the Fainting Goat at 204 E. Main to serve alcoholic beverages, as part of the fare to be offered by Walter Torres, the owner. Torres said he is planning a combination pub and coffee shop that will serve a light lunch meal.
