ONS projects to be highlighted at meeting

Everyone has an invitation tomorrow night to hear Scott Batson, site vice president at the Oconee Nuclear Station, talk about the latest on major projects underway at the nuclear plant. Batson will speak at 6:30 at the World of Energy in a meeting arranged by FOLKS—Friends of Lake Keowee Society. You can enjoy refreshments and light conversation beginning at 6 o’clock. Tomorrow’s meeting is a follow-up to a FOLKS forum last year that delved into the effects for a potential Jocassee Dam failure north of the plant. Although such a failure is considered improbable, according to FOLKS’ Ben Turetsky, regulatory agencies have placed emphasis on flooding protection of nuclear facilities. Batson will also address Duke Energy’s efforts to enhance fire protection at the plant. You need not be a FOLKS member to attend tomorrow night’s meeting.
