Open house ceremony at Vocational Rehab

An open house near Seneca today celebrated the work that a state agency does to prepare and help disabled South Carolinians attain and keep competitive employment. The event, at the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Center on the Wells Highway, also displayed proclamations signed by local and area mayors marking October as Disabilities Employment Month. The luncheon’s featured speaker, sheriff’s deputy Jeff Covington, exuded a spirit of never give up no matter one’s circumstances. Covington’s spirits were nearly ruined by a traffic accident eight years ago when he lost a leg and injured the other in a motorcycle accident when a van drifted into his lane of travel.
