Open house to discuss Oconee Nuclear’s performance

The government’s nuclear watchdog has scheduled an open house to discuss how well the Oconee Nuclear Station did its job in 2013. It’s an informal open house scheduled by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to take place 6 o’clock Thursday evening, May 22 at Duke’s World of Energy, and the public is invited. There will be information posters and NRC staff available to answer questions about the safety performance of the three units, as well as overall NRC oversight and inspection. In 2013, NRC staff concluded that Oconee Units 1, 2, and 3 operated safely, and there were no inspection findings or performance indicators that would cause the NRC to increase its level of oversight and inspection.
