OSB receives report on new high school

Layout of future Walhalla High School campus.

Oconee school administrators say, so far, the project to build the new Walhalla High School has seen a couple of change orders amounting to about $200 thousand. Those change orders apply to the grading and site preparation. Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Dr. Michael Thorsland, says it’s still too early for the district to receive its overall guaranteed maximum price from the construction management at risk company, Trehel Corporation. That price will determine how much overage, if any, there is to be for a project whose budget has been set at $50 million. Meantime, the school board of trustees last night, received a building report in which the architect predicted that soon the naked eye will be able to make out how the buildings will lay out over the 90-plus acre site.
