OSD’s “Math Madness” is Saturday

The Oconee Industrial Group announced a $2 thousand grant today to sponsor the county School District’s Math Madness event. More than 400 students in third through fifth grade come together Saturday morning at Walhalla High School to compete in algorithms, problem solving, and team competition. “The OCIG is proud to sponsor the event for the third year in a row to encourage these young minds to get excited about math,” said Richard Blackwell, executive director of the Oconee Economic Alliance. “The global economy is continuing to push innovation within our manufacturers and a lot of the careers of tomorrow demand a deeper understanding of math. Sponsoring this event is a natural fit as it will ultimately help Oconee County on the economic development front.”
