Water main break near Walhalla

A water main break near Walhalla has halted service for those customers in the vicinity of South Carolina 183/the Westminster Highway and Oak Grove Road.  City Hall has been swamped with calls.  Nancy Goehle, city administrator, says utility crews have been working on the problem all morning.

Light voting

Today’s second elections–the primary runoffs–so far, at least, have drawn little interest from the Oconee voters.  A spokeswoman for county elections says the turnout has been light.  One example, in the county’s largest precincts, Seneca, 111 people had voted Republican.  Fourteen had cast ballots in the Democratic runoff.

A car flipped during the night on South Carolina 59 and wound up wedged against a tree. Responders say this morning’s accident around 1:30 injured two people.
