Tourism plan approved

Bogus returns alleged at Tractor Supply

An employee of a store near Seneca has been arrested and accused of making false returns of store items and pocketing the cash.  Oconee law enforcement authorities reported the arrest yesterday of PickensCounty resident Buddy Khanh Hendrix on the charge of breach of trust with fraudulent intent.  An arrest affidavit alleges the 43-year old Hendrix,…

Jobless percentage up, but so is employment

The latest unemployment rate for OconeeCounty comes in at 6.4%, slightly below the statewide figure of 6.6%.  June figures were released today by the state Department of Employment and Workforce.  Oconee’s rate for May was 6.3%.  The June percentages translated to these numbers:  2,310 Oconeeans on unemployment and 33,575 on the job.

No trash pickups today in West Union

West Union’s trash truck is leaking hydraulic fluid, and there is no sanitation pickup today in the small Oconee town.  Mayor Linda Oliver says the repairman isn’t quite sure when the truck will be ready, but an announcement will be made.
